Furture Learning About Gifted Learners (EDU-6360)

The class will feature options of online modules, independent gifted PD menu assignments, and book study choices specific to the gifted learner. The course will focus on educational trends and methods for improving classroom instruction specific to gifted learners. Professional learning will expand options for teachers and staff amongst various districts to network and collaborate.

There is a need for a greater understanding of our student population identified as gifted. In addition, teachers are needing to work towards mandated hours of gifted PD if they are service providers without at GIS license.

The assignment will vary by the option chosen. If a participant chooses an independent gifted PD menu assignment, or book study, they will do reading and sharing the learning on a blog or written analysis that will be collected by the supervisor of the section and should demonstrate use of the learned outcomes into the current work and role of the participant.

At completion, depending on the specific section multiple gifted education competencies of the eight set by ODE will be covered. Teachers will also be able to expand their learning and application in practical and relevant skills to utilize within their daily work.
