Adult Mental Health First Aid is an international program proven effective. Peer-reviewed studies published in Australia, where the program originated, show that individuals trained in the program: 

• Grow their knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions.
• Can identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental illness or addiction.
• Increase their confidence in and likelihood to help an individual in distress.

1. CASA

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) provides the voice for children who are in the court system through no fault of their own. This is an informational session for people who are interested in advocating for children who have been neglected and/or abused. A CASA volunteer looks out for the best interest of the child.

Learn about calligraphy tools and how to properly use them, basic strokes of calligraphy and how to transform strokes into letters and connect them into words. All materials are provided. After learning to make the dough, a variety of delicious ingredients will be provided for you to artistically decorate your focaccia bread and create a beautiful and tasty picture. You will take your masterpiece home to finish raising, then bake and share.

1. Buying a House in 2024: Step-by-Step

Are you interested in buying a home? What goes into it? In this class, Bernardo will go over tips and each step: how to know if the realtor is working for you or the seller, getting pre-approval through a bank and why that is important, what you need, and how to assure that you can get a loan, what makes a good home and a good deal, and how to ensure that you'll win in the long run and more! Bernardo will also be available to answer any questions students have.

Join this hands-on course packed with fantastic explanations and step-by-step demos. Basic computer skills will be covered, and an introduction to internet search engines, Microsoft Word and security will be provided. 

Jigsaw Puzzle Competition

If you’re a competitive person who loves putting together jigsaw puzzles and visiting historical museums, this event is for you. Central Community College and Dawson County Museum in Lexington are joining forces for an afternoon of jigsaw puzzle fun and a bit of history. Open to groups of two to three persons willing to spend three hours of puzzling enjoyment. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. Snacks provided. 

1. Leather Jewelry 

Learn to use leather to create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. In this class, you will learn to cut leather and tie sliding knots to create two distinct looks. Robert will help each student make a pair of earrings and a necklace. Tools will be provided, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them and any questions you have about them.
