Automotive Upholstery Basics
Learn the tricks of the automotive upholstery trade! Designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike, students will learn to reupholster car seats working with a range of fabrics and materials. This course covers basic sewing, cutting and pattern-making techniques and the use of specialized tools and equipment (depending on vintage/year of the seat). Students should bring their project the first day of class. Required items: scissors, needle nose pliers, fabric and cushions. Optional: side cutter pliers, screwdrivers, metric/standard sockets & wrenches and hog ring pliers (Steven will have extras if you do not bring these). If you have a basic knowledge of sewing and are interested in learning the fundamentals of quilting, this class is for you. Students will learn to read patterns, cut fabric, sew a ¼’ seam allowance, press and more while constructing a table runner with basic blocks. A supply list will be provided upon registration. Bird Watching for Beginners

Colleen Childers and Boni Edwards got acquainted through a 2017 Game and Parks challenge to commemorate Nebraska's 150th birthday by finding and identifying 150 different species of birds in Nebraska. They not only found more than 150 birds but photographed them, too. Since then, they've been hooked! They have traveled hundreds of miles traversing the state together in search of new species and both have over 350 species of birds in Nebraska. Birding in Nebraska will include basic bird identification tips and an introduction to "apps" and field guides to help with identification. Learn where to bird in the state using online information and how to bird in your backyard. Birding can be fun for all ages with little or no cost. A field trip will follow with plenty of time for questions and answers.
