American Sign Language Level I

Level I: This introductory class focuses on building a foundation in American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary and grammar. Perfect for beginners, it provides the essential tools needed to start communicating in ASL.

These Classes teach (ASL) with a strong emphasis on deaf culture. Students will learn through immersive group conversations and interactions.

Mondays, September 15, 22, 29 and October 6, 6-8 p.m.

American Sign Language Level II

Level II: The advanced class reviews basic words, and quickly progresses to forming sentences and engaging in more complex communications. Ideal for those who have completed Level I or have some prior knowledge of American Sign Language.

These classes teach ASL with a strong emphasis on deaf culture. Students will learn through immersive group conversations and interactions.

August The Vintageleaf Terrarium Workshop

Join CCC and The Vintageleaf Boutique for hands-on terrarium building workshop where you can unleash your creativity and learn the art of creating your own miniature garden. Perfect for beginners and experienced plant enthusiasts alike! Doors open at 6 p.m. and the workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. There is a class offered August, September, October, November and December.

Basic Digital Photography

Learn the basic operation of your Mirrorless or DSLR interchangeable lens camera. You’ll learn the building blocks to get off auto mode and start creating pictures with aperture and shutter priority modes to the pinnacle of the all-powerful and most feared mode — manual mode. You’ll learn about ISO, white balance settings and the metering modes of your camera. This course will explore using proper light and composition for making good pictures. We’ll touch on post processing and developing digital images by phone, tablet and computer. Must have a Mirrorless or DSLR camera. A smartphone, mobile tablet or laptop computer is encouraged but not required.

Wednesdays, October 1-22, 6-8 p.m.

Basic Drawing Techniques

Take this class and learn to draw, starting with the basic shapes, one- and two-point perspective, and continuing with shading. You will learn and practice the basics, then take these skills home for future endeavors in sketching and painting. Supplies needed: a soft lead pencil, eraser, and a pad of newsprint or sketchbook paper no smaller than 8.5x11 inches.

Saturday, October 11, 1-3 p.m.

Bird Watching Fundamentals

This class will be taught by a local, experienced birder and includes basic bird identification tips, an introduction to “apps” and field guides to help with identification. Learn where to bird in the state and in your backyard. Fun for all ages with littler or no cost. A field trip will follow with plenty of time for questions and answers.
