Delaware Tech’s CDL curriculum combines classroom study with practical experience behind the wheel of diesel powered tractor trailers on a private training range, as well as public streets and highways. You’ll also learn the intricacies of handling a variety of truck types and cargo, conducting required inspections, proper reporting and documentation requirements, and trip-planning techniques – all in a small-class-size environment. This certificate program is available in a structured environment of weekday and evening/weekend study. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to earn your CDL Class A Driver’s License. Prerequisite: high school Diploma/GED; driver’s license for a minimum of one year, CDL Class A learner's permit, successful completion of the TABE Test and pass a drug screen and a DOT Physical. This Delaware Driver Education course is designed to fulfill Delaware DMV driver’s education requirements for students. The course has been approved by the State of Delaware Department of Education. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction plus ten hours of in-car observation and seven hours of actual behind-the wheel driving experience. Age requirements - anyone whose birthday is December 31, 2008 or before (including adults over 18) may take this class. Teachers must take both Driver’s Education classes as part of the certification process in becoming a certified Driver Education instructor in Delaware. Upon completion of this program, candidates will be eligible to earn the 1553 - Driver Education and Traffic Safety Education Teacher certificate, provided they meet all other licensure and certification requirements. This class is held in-person.

Prerequisite: Certified State of Delaware Teacher
