Get hands-on with welding using the IWCC Mobile Welding Lab Truck — no experience necessary! In this guided Friday evening session, participants will learn welding safety, machine setup, and basic technique while completing a small take-home project.
Advance registration required. Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and cotton long sleeves required. Minimum 4 participants.

Already completed the Friday Night guided session — or just looking for supervised shop time? The Open Weld session gives you access to the IWCC Mobile Welding Lab Truck for additional practice, finishing projects, or small personal repair work with an instructor on-site.
Registration required by 2:00 PM the day of. Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and cotton long sleeves required. Minimum 3 participants.

Learn safety techniques and basic welding skills in this interactive experience. Participants will learn welding safety, different types of welding, and basic fabrication. Students will finish a project to take home. 
This program is open to individuals who will be in 9th – 12th grade during the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Dates: Wednesday, July 15

Class runs from September 8 thru December 15, 2026. Tuesday & Thursday Evenings 6:00pm - 9:00pm - IWCC Business & Community Training Center - 2120 23rd Ave Council Bluffs, IA 51503. 
Students will build on foundational skills by performing MIG and Stick welds across multiple positions — flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. As the course progresses, students will work with a variety of electrodes and sizes, developing the ability to adjust settings for each process and position. Students will also receive an introduction to Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW). The course concludes with an AWS certification preparation and testing opportunity.
Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and cotton long sleeves required.
