This program requires a mandatory parent and student orientation held one week prior to the start of class. Attendance at orientation is required to participate in the course. 

The program also requires 20 hours of behind the wheel driving with a parent/guardian (licensed driver) prior to starting the course

The program includes both online classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training. The instructor will have detailed instructions on accessing the online coursework and scheduling driving sessions at orientation.

Please register using your child’s first and last name; however, enter the parent/guardian’s email address and phone number. Iowa Western can only communicate directly with parents/guardians and is not permitted to communicate with students.

After completing the online portion of the course, students have 45 days to complete six (6) behind-the-wheel driving sessions with the instructor.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED (Asthma care video is optional) online is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid & CPR AED training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. The course is intended for those involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in children/infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies at work, home, or in the community. An eLearning link will be sent to your personal e-mail. October 1- November 6, 2026. Online and Zoom
This 4-week online course fulfills the required coursework to apply for the State of Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) Coaching Authorization. The second week of class will be mandatory zoom sessions with the instructor. During the third week of class, students will complete the remaining zoom sessions. Successful completion of this course and the BOEE application process qualifies participants to serve as an assistant or head coach for any K-12 sport in Iowa.

Required books: Sports First Aid (Melinda Flegel 5th Edition) and Successful Coaching (Rainer Martens 4th Edition)
