**Class Drop Policy: Drops for workshops must be completed before the first day of class. A student who registers for a workshop and fails to attend will not be refunded. If you would like to withdraw from a workshop please sign into your student portal, submit a request, and “Withdrawal from program.” All Withdrawals will be reviewed for processing and refunds may take between 5-15 business days  

Advanced STEM/STEAM focuses on developing and building hands-on projects using Fab Lab skills and a variety of advanced manufacturing equipment. This workshop meets approximately twice a month over a six-month period. While occasional scheduling conflicts may arise, they will be addressed as needed.

Projects will culminate around the County Fair, allowing participants the opportunity to enter their work.

The workshop will be conducted by John Zehren in Room 117A at the iMET Center. Participants are encouraged to bring a flash drive; no additional materials are required. Parents are welcome to attend with their children.

Open to students in 6th grade and up

In this course, participants examine basic insect identification principles and classify common
backyard insects. They distinguish beneficial insects from common garden pests. Participants
apply simple strategies to attract beneficial insects and manage selected pests. They practice
safe collection and observation techniques. Upon completion of the course, participants will be
able to identify common garden insects and apply foundational pest management strategies in home
landscapes.

HAAS TRAINING

In this course, learners explore CNC machining concepts. They  examine setup and operation of CNC milling machines, and they  practice applying basic G code principles. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to program, setup, and operate a CNC mill.

In this course, participants analyze the ecological impacts of invasive plant species on native landscapes. They differentiate native and invasive plants using key identifying characteristics. Participants practice observation skills to recognize common local invasive species. They assess how invasive plants alter habitats and influence biodiversity. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to identify local invasive species and explain their effects on native ecosystems.
