Welcome to the course catalog for the School of Professional Studies at MCPHS.

We offer two types of courses:

  1. Self-Paced Prerequisite Courses.   
    Even though there is a start date listed in the course description, our self-paced courses can be started at any time. Once you register, you will be able to access the online course in 1-2 business days. You will have 16 weeks to work through the content at your own pace, beginning from your date of registration. Reduced tuition options are available to eligible students. New students to MCPHS are eligible to receive a 50% reduction in the cost of tuition for one course. Please complete the discount code form to receive the discount code. If you have been admitted to a degree program and paid your enrollment deposit, please contact the Admission Office.   
     
  2. Semester-Based Courses.  
    Pay attention to the start and end dates in the course description. These courses have a fixed term and you will need to keep up with the deadlines for assignments and exams. Please review the location prior to registering, as we offer courses online and on-campus.

Find your course of interest and select “Register” to begin the registration process.

Shopping Cart Limit: There is a limit of two (2) course registrations per transactions. If you are looking to register for more than two courses at once, you will need to complete more than one transaction. For quicker processing, it is highly recommended that you keep all course registrations under one registration account. 

Fees: As of March 1st, 2025, a non-refundable Pay Path service charge of 2.95% (minimum $3.00) for domestic issued cards and 4.25% (minimum $3.00) for international issued cards will be added to all card payments.

Clinical Pharmacogenomics (MSC-602E)

This course, designed for current and future healthcare providers, explores the genetic basis of drug response and emphasizes current applications of pharmacogenomics in the clinic. Students will interpret pharmacogenomic test results, analyze evidence-based guidelines, and optimize pharmacotherapy outcomes using genetic information. In addition, students will examine contemporary challenges associated with direct-to-consumer genetic testing and implementing pharmacogenomics into clinical practice. (Graduate Credits: 2.0)

Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of Precision Medicine (MSC-603E)

This course explores the ethical, legal, and social implications of precision medicine through both didactic learning and interactive review of current case studies. Student will engage in virtual group discussions that facilitate their ability to dissect these complex issues. In the culminating exercise, students will present their own case studies highlighting independent analysis of the ethical, legal, and social issues. (Graduate Credits: 2.0)

HMX Gene Therapy (MSC-605E)

Gene therapy has become a promising treatment option for some genetic conditions. This 10-week asynchronous online course from Harvard Medical School (HMX) offers a unique way for professionals to learn about gene therapy and the advances happening in the field to improve the treatment of certain genetic diseases. Students learn the fundamental concepts of gene therapy, including the key differences between ex vivo and in vivo gene therapies, and their application to treat inherited genetic conditions.
