A continuation of JAPN 1103.The student will demonstrate increased proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Japanese. The student will continue to explore important aspects of Japanese culture. Prerequisite: JAPN 1103 or instructor approval.

Ever wanted to explore Japan and its culture? Introduction to Japanese will allow your student to explore Japan, its language and its culture. Your student will learn basic sentence patterns, proper pronunciation, numbers, common greetings and phrases, as well as the 2 of the 3 writing systems: Hiragana and Katakana. You will also learn about origami and its significance and contribution to Japanese culture.

A follow-up to our Introduction to Japanese I (camp week June 13-16), your student will continue their exploration of the Japanese language and culture. Your student will learn about Japanese question sentence patterns, frequently used social expressions, and a 3rd Japanese writing system: Kanji.
