As part of the program students will build and secure a LINUX virtual machine using virtualization technology. They will also create complex networks using Cisco Packet Tracer, implementing routing, NAT, port forwarding, DHCP, DNS, and packet sniffers, as well as troubleshooting and resolving complex network problems.

Students will design a relational database to contain customer data and security incidents and create queries to analyze date. They will also create and format a multiple page web site that includes graphics, video and audio, and a consistent theme with image maps, columns, tables, and animation.  The web site will include forms for collecting user data and authenticating users.

In this program, students will build and secure a Linux virtual machine using virtualization technology. They will also create complex networks using Cisco Packet Tracer, implementing routing, NAT, port forwarding, DHCP, DNS, and packet sniffers.  

Students will also design a relational database to contain customer data and security incidents and create queries to analyze the data. Then, after creating 4 Python applications from scratch: an age calculator, a word guessing game, a lemonade stand game, and a text-based adventure game, students will create the code to connect a web site to the database to authenticate users and provide user-specific content to users after login.

An introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) which includes the development of receptive and expressive skills in authentic situations and an introduction to Deaf culture.  This introductory course in ASL uses a natural language approach to introduce culturally appropriate signed concepts related to the immediate environment.  Common communicative events and interactions are utilized to acquire a basic working vocabulary and grammar.  The course includes the development of appropriate linguistic/cultural behaviors and awareness of respect for Deaf culture.  Receptive and expressive skills are fostered through interactive ASL lessons without voice.

Issue of race, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, racial oppression, social-minority, and language variation will be discussed. An in-depth analysis of the nature and needs of the culturally deaf, non-culturally deaf, deaf-blind, deaf plus, LGBTQ+ and deaf from other countries including the cycle of internalization of biases and discrimination. PREREQUISITE: ASLE 1413 or permission of the instructor

Students will explore Deaf culture as a minority culture focusing on awareness and understanding of cultural diversity and preservation of language.
