This class will focus on the different colors, especially reds and purples, of autumn and the many great options for trees, shrubs, and perennials. This class will help you make the best decisions for YOUR home and landscaping beds before you purchase plants. You will also learn about which plants make good habitat and food choices for our critter friends throughout the winter as well.

Gotham Green: Hydroponics with Aquaponics Comparison (ZHNG-90969)

 Does gardening in the summer heat and dormant winters leave you searching for healthy sources of vegetables/herbs year-round? Our Gotham Green class is a city slickers answer to tasty and nutritious foods.  Explore, learn AND take home the aquaculture of hydroponics! Ours is a nature-based, engineered solution that leverages the Nitrogen Cycle for rapid germination and continuous production. The hydroponic portion will enlighten you on the basics of available home systems.  The small take-home model designed by TU students will get you started. The course is hosted at the Outdoor Classroom – Mohawk, just across from the Tulsa Zoo. We have a commercial aquaponic system onsite and a workspace to build your own model, with troubleshooting guide to assure success!  Grow green, live long!

What is hydroponics? If you have a balcony or have limited yard space but like growing fresh produce, you will find this soil-less cultivation method of interest. You will learn the basics including the advantages of no weeding, reduced insects and pests, faster growth, higher fruit and vegetable yields, and reduced maintenance costs. You will also learn about different growing mediums, and systems and what options are available to you. You are sure to enjoy learning about this growing trend in multifaceted  technique.
